The unexpected call

Once in a blue moon, it happens that you meet someone, not necessarily a lover, but someone with who you can walk the extra mile, and once you're done, you can walk that extra mile again, and again, and again.

Even though years may pass without you even saying hello to your friend once, whether it may be because of distance, or whatever, this friendship still remains firmly in place.

And, as has happened this evening, when you call, just to say hello, just to hear how things are, it's then I suddenly realise how much I missed you, all the days and nights we talked through, all the alleys and little places we walked to, all the laugh, the cry, the asking why, the good, the bad, ... everything.
And it's then I know, no matter what life may throw at me, no matter where in the world you may be, no matter how old or poor or sick we may get, a true friend like you, a real pal, a genuine chom, is very, very hard to get.

May God bless you.

So, so true. And I love that moment of click and connection, and it's not even like, "where have you been", just, "oh, there you are." Thanks for this. It made me smile.

Well all, this wasn't exactly meant to be a poem, it was really how I felt deep in my heart on Friday evening, when a longlast friend from university who nowadays live in England, called me while she is on holiday here and visiting her parents.
But yes, as one of you said, it's not a case of "where have you been", but rather "oh, there you are".
And even though we hadn't spoke a word in years, it just felt like all this time had never passed, if you know what I mean.

Glad it meant something to you though.
